The Loneliness of Leadership
BIBLE TEXT: NUMBERS 11:17

Every leader is responsible for areas in which they have little or no competence. And when they try to exercise authority in those areas, they hinder everything and everybody under their watch. Put bluntly, there are things you are responsible for that you’ll never be good at, that you need to keep your nose out of and that you need to give others! Why do we have such a hard time doing this? 1) Pride. Success is intoxicating and intoxicated people don’t think too clearly. We assume out abilities are broader than they actually are. Admitting weakness doesn’t make you less effective; it just confirms what everybody around you already knows! 2) Ignorance. We feel bad about delegating our work areas because we assume everybody hates to do what we hate to do. Not so. You are allowing others to shine; your limitations are their opportunities. 3) Independence. We think if the job is to be done ‘right’ we are to do it ourselves. But leadership isn’t all about getting things done; it’s about getting things done through others. If you can’t find somebody to hand things to, look in the mirror! The people who follow you are exactly where you’ve led them! If you’ve nobody to delegate things to, guess who needs to change?
Coiled from the WORD OF TODAY

The answer to the above asked question is YOU! You are the one who needs to change. Looking at the bible text of today’s passage; it talks about a leader who not only leads his followers but carries the burdens when a follower loses all hope. A leader is different from a ruler. A ruler decrees but a leader directs, advises but does not force one into committing into an action.

As leaders therefore we should understand that with leadership comes loneliness; you need to be alone in other to think. As a leader you don’t only think for yourself you think for those who follow you. For those who are under you. It is your job to educate and culture your followers. It is always advisable for a leader to be two steps ahead of his followers.

Why? You would ask? Well, the answer is simple; a leader has to go ahead to see that the path is clear for his followers to pass without fear of danger. Being a leader means you are a burden carrier. Jesus Christ is an example of a great leader who carried not only the burdens of his disciples but the burdens of the world at large so far as they were willing to follow. So why not begin to follow the lord Jesus Christ today so that you can be saved from fall or harm because then your mind is at rest and at peace that you have a burden carrier and fighter at you aid. Follow him today and I promise you will not be sorry. Good morning.
